Position Overview

The primary responsibility of the Armed Security Officer is to provide for the safety, security and protection of executives, team members, visitors, company offices, and certain residential properties. Anticipate potential problems and seeks ways to prevent disruption, injuries, and prohibited conduct from occurring at designated locations. Responds to emergency situations as required and takes appropriate actions to resolve problems and at the same time minimize company liability.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Las Vegas Sands Corp.'s policies, practices, and procedures. All Las Vegas Sands Corp. Team Members are expected to conduct and carry themselves in a professional manner at all times. Team Members are required to observe the Company's standards, work requirements and rules of conduct.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform assigned security duties to protect or safeguard individuals, property, grounds, or designated areas.
  • Fulfill and maintain all training requirements to sustain an appropriate level of proficiency.
  • Respond to and resolve security incidents while maintaining effective communication with security operations center.
  • React quickly during emergencies including active assailant situations.
  • Provides a safe and secure environment through static security posts and roving patrols at designated locations.
  • Executes emergency response and evacuation procedures as needed or as directed by the manager.
  • Monitors and assists in the enforcement of company policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and directs team members, visitors, and vendors as well as pedestrian / vehicle traffic to maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Provides fire protection in all areas and inspects fire suppression and life safety equipment on a regular basis to ensure it is operational.
  • Investigates all incidents, accidents, and/or events to include taking initial report and conducting interviews with appropriate follow-up.
  • Maintains a visible and accessible profile among team members to create a sense of security, to deter potential problems, and to answer questions.
  • Monitors, responds, and resolves situations involving suspicious persons at designated locations, particularly those attempting to enter an unauthorized area. At the discretion of the shift manager, trespass undesirable individuals.
  • Provide assistance and guidance as necessary to team members, visitors and vendors.
  • Attend, participate and pass all required firearms training.
  • Perform job duties in a safe manner.
  • Attend work as scheduled on a consistent and regular basis.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization to work in the United States.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any certification or license, as required by law or policy.
  • Able to obtain/possess a valid Nevada Driver's License
  • Possess a CCW or HR218 permit.
  • Pass and show proficiency during an advanced firearm qualification.
  • Pass the psychological test and Sands Firearms Safety Course.
  • Must be able to work any shift, weekends and holidays.
  • At least 3 years of prior experience in civilian or military law enforcement, armed casino/hotel security, or armed industrial/private security.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to investigate incidents, interview witnesses and draft legible, factual reports. Knowledge of general first aid and CPR. Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws pertaining to law enforcement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and interact appropriately with management, other Team Members and outside contacts of different backgrounds and levels of experience.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to:
  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, able to push and/or pull 200 pounds unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access assigned workspace areas with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Bend from the waist, crouch, stretch, kneel, climb, twist, and crawl without restrictions.
  • Perform eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, and dust.
  • Utilize laptop and standard keyboard to perform essential functions of the job.
