Job Description
The Boiler Operator is responsible and accountable for plant utilities, including boilers, wastewater treatment, cooling towers, compressed air, and nitrogen production. This role requires effective communication of critical information concerning safety and environmental compliance, security, and operational issues to the Shift Supervisor/Superintendent. Operators work rotating shifts and are also responsible for performing routine maintenance and inspections in assigned areas.
Troubleshoot issues with boilers, pumps, valves, and controls
Collaborate with engineering teams to improve operations and develop solutions
Conduct water sampling, test water chemistry, and adjust chemical dosages for treatment
1st Class Steam Operating Engineer License from Shelby County, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or additional education preferred
1–3 years of boiler operations or maintenance experience
