Overview Director of Economic Development – City of Tifton The City of Tifton is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Economic Developer to join our team. This position will collaborate closely with city government, the Urban Development Agency, and the Downtown Development Authority to spearhead initiatives that promote sustainable economic growth and enhance the quality of life for Tifton residents. Responsibilities Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive economic development strategies that align with the city’s goals and objectives. Conduct market research and data analysis to identify opportunities for growth and investment. Collaboration and Coordination: Work collaboratively with city officials, local businesses, and community organizations to foster a supportive economic environment. Organize meetings with the Urban Development Agency and Downtown Development Authority to coordinate projects and initiatives. Business Development: Identify and recruit new businesses and industries to Tifton, fostering relationships with prospective investors. Assist existing businesses with expansion opportunities and provide resources to facilitate growth. Community Engagement: Maintain positive relationships with community stakeholders, including residents, business owners, and government officials. Organize and participate in community outreach programs to promote economic initiatives and gather feedback. Grant Writing and Funding: Identify and pursue grant opportunities and funding sources to support economic development projects. Prepare and submit grant applications in collaboration with other departments. Policy Development: Assist in the development of policies and programs that promote economic vitality and sustainable development. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of economic development programs and initiatives. Reporting and Analysis: Prepare reports for city officials and stakeholders on economic development activities, outcomes, and proposals. Analyze economic trends and make recommendations based on data-driven insights. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in economics, urban planning, business administration, or a related field (Master's preferred). Proven experience in economic development, urban planning, or a related field. Strong knowledge of economic development principles, practices, and policies. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
