Job Description

Dexter, a premier manufacturer and distributor of axles, suspension, brakes, doors, venting products, trailer parts and accessories, and towing components serving the commercial trailer, RV, heavy-duty, marine, agriculture, and manufactured housing markets, has an opportunity for a Manufacturing EHS Manager (Environmental, Health, Safety) at our manufacturing facility located in Fremont, Indiana . We are seeking an EHS Manager with a history of success providing team leadership driving safety initiatives. Must understand OSHA compliance, policies and regulations. This person should be a good communicator, able to build relationships and support from all areas within the production facility as well as cross-functional teams. Seasoned at developing and maintaining a variety of safety and environmental programs, policies and procedures that will ensure all associates are in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards. Developing, implementing and managing a program to reduce occupational injuries and illnesses, including area assessments, injury investigations and clear, measurable goals. Correcting working conditions, using broad scope of knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, psychology, and safety standards, develops loss control programs, and devises methods to evaluate safety progresses. Assessing share, and leverage industry EHS best practices across sites. Establishing, implementing, and maintaining all Environmental and Safety Management systems in accordance with ISO 14001/ISO 18001, reporting to top management on performance, and recommend improvements. Serving as the interface between local, state, and federal regulatory agencies, corporate and any insurance carrier representatives in order to ensure plant compliance. Managing plants environmental and OSHA regulatory reporting and record keeping requirements. Creating and managing budgets for EHS activities including consulting and testing, waste removal, safety equipment, safety recognition activities, etc. Leading investigations on environmental non-compliance, safety non-compliance, and root cause incidents and provide urgent response to operational issues. Leading implementations and use of team implemented problem solving. Conducting site audits and evaluate plants compliance with environmental regulations and identify areas of improvements. Implementing environmental solutions and drive changes in manufacturing processes/systems that lead to reduction in environmental waste streams. Managing workers compensation claims. Leading safety, health and environmental awareness program trainings We Need Your Health And Safety Expertise Working knowledge of behavior-based safety, preferably DuPont STOP Chemical hazard communication Contractor safety Confined space entry Electrical safety Emergency response planning Ergonomics Fall protection Hazardous energy control - Lock Out/Tag Out Hearing conservation Incident investigation Indoor air quality/industrial hygiene Injury reporting and analysis Job hazard analysis and risk assessments Machine guarding Personal protective equipment Powered industrial vehicles Safety programs and awareness and OSHA compliance And Your Environmental Expertise Sustainable processes/recycling Solid and hazardous waste management Wastewater and storm water management, permitting, compliance, and controls Air emission management, permitting, compliance, and controls Pollution prevention and resource conservation Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable degree is required Minimum 5 years of EHS experience in manufacturing industry is required 2 years managing Plant/Production/HSE programs and people. Proven success in creating and implementing HSE compliance and improvement plans. Knowledge of US federal and state regulations pertaining to occupational safety and health and the environment.
