Legal Project Manager

This Stamford CT law firm is seeking a highly skilled Legal Project Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering superior legal services across multiple practice areas. The core responsibility of this role involves collaborating with client teams to devise, implement, and manage a standardized project management framework aimed at enhancing efficiency and the quality of our legal deliverables.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with client teams to manage engagements throughout the full matter lifecycle, identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in project planning, fee estimating, budget preparation, fee and scope management, reporting, and project management technology.
  • Act as a trusted advisor providing on-demand consultancy with a focus on service quality, delivery, and efficiency.
  • Liaise with clients to ensure firm compliance with outside counsel guidelines, coordinating with the Finance team on billing requirements.
  • Lead the implementation and advancement of legal project management and knowledge management tools such as Clocktimizer, viGlobal, Kira, Intapp, HighQ.
  • Develop project management methodologies and collaborate with internal teams, clients, and vendors to enhance tools utilized by the firm.
  • Provide mentorship and training in project management and process improvement across the firm.
  • Encourage continuous improvement by fostering a team environment conducive to open feedback and innovative thinking.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience in substantive practice or project management within a professional services, legal, or consulting environment.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement effective solutions focused on client satisfaction, financial performance, and compliance.
  • Experienced in using project management and process improvement tools and techniques.
  • Proficient in project management technologies like SharePoint, Smartsheet, HighQ, and Microsoft Project.
  • Strong ability in communication, presentation, and managing relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Advanced analytical skills with knowledge of metrics that drive change and innovation within a legal framework.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours as needed, including weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degrees or certifications such as Paralegal Certificate, MBA, or JD preferred.
  • Prior experience with high-profile client teams and large-scale legal operations.
  • Deep familiarity with advanced project management technologies and change management methodologies like Prosci.
  • Formal project management or process improvement certifications (PRINCE2, PMP).
  • A keen understanding of the evolving landscape of project management across industries.
