Job Summary:

\n\n

The Maintenance Manager leads the maintenance department focusing on continuous improvement and TPM. This role is responsible to provide both strategic and tactical support to plant operations with a goal to maximize efficiencies and lower total cost of ownership.

\n\n

Functions of the Job:

\n\n

\n\t
• Manage the Preventative Maintenance Program including predictive maintenance, spare parts inventory and down-time trending by equipment and frequency.\n\t
• Manage payroll for the maintenance department.\n\t
• Manage maintenance parts procurement and budget\n\t
• Ensure required licenses and permits are obtained & maintained, including air, water, fire, etc.\n\t
• Maintain fire system and fire prevention program.\n\t
• Maintain all building facilities and utilities including ammonia refrigeration system.\n\t
• Collaborate with cross-functional groups including Production, Human Resource, Quality, Supply Chain, Warehousing, and Finance to meet production targets.\n\t
• Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve machines and plant equipment to maximize efficiency.\n\t
• Write, submit, and execute capital projects\n\t
• Model a strong sense of ownership and accountability for the Maintenance Department.\n\t
• Showcase flexibility and a "whatever it takes" attitude to get the job done right, including being on-call nights and weekends.\n\t
• Plan, develop and implement departmental expectations.\n\t
• Assist in executing the production schedule and supply the needs of Operations.\n\t
• Works with management to ensure effective organizational design and that roles are correctly organized, defined, documented, and communicated to all employees.\n\t
• Ensures effective safety procedures, tools and record keeping are managed through site leadership.\n\t
• Adheres to company GMP’s (good manufacturing practices), safety procedures and all other quality processes.\n\t
• Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when required.\n\t
• All other duties as assigned.\n

Supervisory Responsibilities:

\n\n

\n\t
• Oversee all maintenance team including supervisors and technicians.\n

\n\n

Minimum Qualifications:

\n\n

\n\t
• Bachelor’s Degree or related field experience.\n\t
• Minimum of 10 years progressive maintenance experience in a food manufacturing environment.\n\t
• Must have at least 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role.\n

\n\n

Preferred Qualifications:

\n\n

\n\t
• Experience with Oracle.\n\t
• Bilingual in Spanish.\n

\n\n

Knowledge and Skills:

\n\n

\n\t
• Candidate must possess a strong working knowledge of systems having a high level of instrumentation and automation.\n\t
• Lean/Six Sigma, 5-S Fundamentals, and TPM understanding\n\t
• Outstanding verbal, written, multi-tasking and presentation skills.\n\t
• Ability to create momentum and foster organizational change.\n\t
• Must have a working knowledge of MS Word and MS PowerPoint software and be proficient with MS Excel software.\n\t
• Exceptional mechanical skills/aptitude.\n

Additional Considerations:

\n\n

\n\t
• Travel Expectation: Up to 10%.\n\t
• Location: This position will be at the SunOpta plant in Omak, WA.\n\t
• Work Environment: Approximately 50% of this role will be in an office environment; approximately 50% will be in a plant / manufacturing environment.\n
