Job Title: On-Call Unarmed Security Officer Location: Homeless Shelter, National City/ Downtown San Diego, CA.
Job Type: On-Call/Part-Time
Job Summary: Star Pro Security Patrol, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and compassionate On-Call Unarmed Security Officer to join our team. The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure the safety and security of shelter residents, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will be alert, reliable, and committed to maintaining a safe environment for all.
Key Responsibilities: - Monitor and patrol shelter premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure the security of doors, windows, and gates.
- Assist in maintaining order and ensuring adherence to shelter rules and policies by residents, visitors, and staff.
- Respond promptly to alarms and disturbances, investigating the cause and taking appropriate action.
- Provide a visible security presence to deter potential incidents and reassure residents and staff.
- Conduct regular checks of the facility, including sleeping areas, common areas, and outdoor spaces.
- Report any irregularities, suspicious activities, or safety hazards to shelter management.
- Assist in the management of access control, ensuring only authorized individuals enter the premises.
- Provide assistance and support to residents and staff as needed, including conflict de-escalation and first aid if required.
- Maintain detailed logs and records of incidents and activities during each shift.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary.
Qualifications: - High school diploma or GED.
- Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
- Understanding and empathy towards the needs of homeless individuals and families.
Physical Requirements: - Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations.
Working Conditions: - The shelter environment may involve contact with individuals experiencing various personal challenges, including mental health issues and substance use.
