This role is critical for ensuring the performance, availability, and security of our databases. The Database Administrator will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical database systems.

Responsibilities: - Apply the latest technologies in Oracle and MS SQL database solutions on Linux and Windows environments.
- Manage database security, backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
- Perform database maintenance tasks such as upgrading, patching, profiling, and monitoring.
- Analyze, interpret, and disseminate system performance data.
- Develop, document, and maintain standards, best practices, or system usage procedures.
- Work closely with software developers, QA personnel, and server admins to provide database services.
- Advise project teams on the design of complex databases and data lakes.
- Ensure security of systems and integrity of documents and transactions.
- Implement compliance changes via procedural recommendations from risk management.
- Perform detailed comparisons of various database systems.
- Provide data storage strategies, backup, recovery, and archival policies and procedures.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in database administration.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in Azure, AWS, and procurement data warehouse management.
- Proven expertise in database design, mirroring, standby, Oracle RAC, monitoring, implementation, and administration in Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, MS SQL, and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with cloud/virtualized environments (Microsoft Azure and Oracle 18c).
- Strong understanding of hardware/software and related peripheral equipment.
- Knowledge and experience with the latest .Net framework, Visual Studio, Asp.Net with MVC, C#, LINQ, and SQL Server Data Tools (SSIS, SSRS).
- Knowledge and working experience in developing web services and maintaining source code and deploying applications via various technologies such as CVS, SVN, Jira, Confluence.
- Solid understanding of full system development life cycle, federal security, privacy, and Section 508 compliance requirements.
- Strong site navigation and user interface design skills.
- Great communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Oriented toward customer service and thoroughly trained and experienced in system development and support.
- Knowledge of NIH environment and enterprise systems is a plus
- Active NIH Clearance is required for this Hybrid role onsite 2 days a week Tuesday and Thursday's .
- Relevant certifications such as Oracle DBA, MCSE: Data Management and Analytics, or AWS Certified Database are highly desirable.
Essential Functions: - Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development teams, product managers, and subject matter experts to gather information and understand complex technical concepts
- Develop, organize, and deliver technical information (e.g., user guides, training materials, installation manuals) for non-technical and technical users in structured (markup language) or unstructured (Word) environments
- Identify and fill documentation gaps by conducting independent research, interviews, and hands-on exploration of the equipment
- Responsible for reviews of documentation for style, design, layout, accuracy, and editorial aspects
- Create and maintain high-quality documentation standards that is measurable across the technical writing team ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency
- Manage tasks and information flow using collaboration software (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, etc.)
- Proactively engage with development teams to ensure timely updates and revisions to the documentation based on equipment changes and enhancements
- Stay up to date with industry standards and trends in technical documentation, and recommend improvements and new approaches for enhancing the documentation process
Qualifications : - Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Ability to read technical drawings and convert the information into easy-to-understand procedures.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly, concisely, and accurately and be comfortable asking questions to ensure accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality documentation.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage complex projects.
- Active NIH Clearance is required
Preferred Additional Skills: - Comfortable with creating documentation in Dreamweaver, Confluence, FrameMaker, etc.
- Experience working with the Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Confluence, etc.).
- Experience creating companion information such as illustrations using photography or illustration software (Photoshop) or flowcharts/graphs using Visio.
- Experience in training curriculum development.
- Understanding of Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
