Prior Authorization Specialist

Pittsburgh, PA (Onsite)

⏰ Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM

$22/hour

About the Role

We're seeking a detail-oriented, patient-focused Prior Authorization Specialist to join our growing team in Pittsburgh. In this role, you'll be the driving force behind the prior authorization (PA) process-acting as the connector between prescribers, insurance plans, and patients to ensure timely access to specialty medications. This is a full-time, onsite position with a Monday-Friday schedule.

What You'll Do

• Investigate : Verify benefits and determine PA requirements for new cases.
• Communicate & Gather : Work closely with prescribers' offices to collect all required clinical documentation.
• Assemble & Submit : Build accurate, "clean" PA case files and submit them to insurance plans.
• Follow-Up & Troubleshoot : Track case progress, resolve issues, and ensure timely approvals.
• Collaborate : Use evolving technology tools and support your team with positivity and professionalism.

What We're Looking For

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of specialty pharmacy experience with prior authorization and benefit verification for specialty medications

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, insurance navigation, and drug nomenclature.
• Excellent communication skills-both written and verbal.
• Ability to multitask and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with computers and the ability to learn new software quickly.

Preferred Skills

• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Strong critical thinking and independent problem-solving skills.
• Effective time management with the ability to prioritize competing tasks.

Additional Details

• 100% onsite position at our Pittsburgh facility.
• Shift availability flexes between 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM .
