Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU - PRN III - Nights at Norman Regional Health System summary:
A Registered Nurse (RN) in the ICU provides critical nursing care by systematically assessing and reassessing the health care needs of patients, conducting nursing diagnoses, and coordinating interventions based on evidence-based practices. The role requires continuous evaluation of patient outcomes and effective discharge planning, often involving collaboration with families and healthcare teams. Qualifications include an ADN or higher-level nursing degree and a current RN license, with preference given to candidates with prior healthcare experience.
Responsibilities:
RN essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Assessment/reassessment - Systematically assesses / reassesses the health care needs of individuals; appropriate for specific age groups and patient conditions. Involves patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate
- Nursing Diagnosis and Outcomes - Analyzes assessment to determine nursing diagnosis and expected outcomes, involving patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
- Implementation and Coordination of Care - Provides nursing care through interventions to achieve goals and needs using professional judgement guided by current evidence-based practice, regulations and policy
- Evaluation - Evaluates patient outcomes by utilizing the critical thinking process and evidence based knowledge to recognize problems, evaluate facts and reach sound conclusions.
- Evaluates discharge needs related to plan of care utilizing resources as needed.

Qualifications
Education
- Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
Experience
- Previous experience in healthcare field preferred.
Licensure/Certification
- Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) training or retraining is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- New grads are required to complete Norman Regional's Nurse Residency Program.
