Seasonal Enologist

The Monterey Wine Company

The Monterey Wine Company is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and hardworking Seasonal Enologist to join our winemaking team. This position plays a vital role in supporting cellar and production operations, grape receiving, winemaking additions and analysis, and ensuring accurate record-keeping and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
Write and close all work orders; maintain accurate winemaking records.

Assist the winemaking team with wine additions, sampling, and laboratory analysis.

Participate in grape receiving and processing during harvest.

Track and manage wine inventory across barrels and tanks; assist with creating topping schedules.

Enter and manage data in production and inventory spreadsheets.

Conduct audits of production activities to ensure proper sanitation and compliance with procedures.

Support winemaking production, warehouse management, and shipping/receiving tasks.

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment and safety regulations.

Uphold safety protocols and quality standards in cellar operations.

Assist with day and night cellar operations during harvest.

Take part in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Enology or related field preferred.

Minimum of 1 year of winery experience required.

Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; WMDB experience a plus.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Willingness to work flexible and extended hours, including graveyard shifts during harvest.

Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

Legal authorization to work in the U.S. required.

Compensation:
$22.00 – $29.31 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime in accordance with California labor laws.
