PRIMARY PURPOSE: To facilitate change and build capacity in the instructional practices of teachers that will enable them to diagnose student needs more analytically, plan more productively, and teach more effectively. The Special Education Instructional Specialist will assist the Special Education Director in coordination of all assigned areas and provide leadership for instructional improvement.



QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

• Texas Teacher and Special Education Certificate
• Master's Degree in Special Education or a related field (preferred)

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Knowledge of the instructional needs of students with disabilities
• Ability to work with teachers to promote instructional change
• Strong collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, students, Administrators and parents
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational and project management skills
• Thorough understanding of state and federal special education standards, regulations and processes
• Ability to evaluate teaching effectiveness
• Proficiency in using technology and data analysis

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of Special Education teaching experience (preferred)
