About the Internship
Position Title : Susan Levin Nutrition Internship
About the Nutrition Team : Over the past three decades, the Physicians Committee's nutrition department has achieved many important successes. We have contributed to the elimination of the "meat group" in federal nutrition guidelines, carried out clinical research studies that have revolutionized the treatment of diabetes, and provided the scientific foundation for the health benefits of plant-based diets. We aim to propel continued progress through direct patient care, nutrition education, and advocacy.
About the Internship : The Susan Levin Nutrition Internship honors the late Susan Levin, MS, RD, CSSD, who served as the Physicians Committee's Director of Nutrition Education for 17 years. Susan Levin fought long and hard for better health and nutrition, not only for the patients under her care and for the participants in the programs she led, but for society as a whole. Participating in this internship is a valuable opportunity to work with an organization at the forefront of the movement to change the way doctors, dietitians, and other health professionals treat chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and cancer.
The Susan Levin Nutrition Intern will provide support for the nutrition team's education and policy programs. Internship learning opportunities may include:
All interns will receive an orientation at the start of their internship and ongoing support from their staff mentor. Interns who are in dietetic internship programs will be mentored by one of our registered dietitians. The Physicians Committee will assist the intern in obtaining course credit if applicable.
