Technical Writer Job Summary:

Sparks Group is looking for a Technical Writer for a long-term contract. This position will require you to work onsite 4-5 days a week in Hyattsville, MD . We’re looking for someone to perform writing and editing duties including reviewing, developing and updating a variety of operations related technical & internal customer focused documents and electronic media; to include staff/position manuals, digital media, Standard Operating Procedures, internal communications and work instructions.

Technical Writer Responsibilities:

• Convert technical, operational, or system-based content into user-friendly language tailored to specific audiences
• Create, update, and version control SOPs, process guides, user manuals, job aids, FAQs, policy documents, and technical references.
• Partner with SMEs, project managers, and functional areas to gather accurate content and confirm technical correctness.
• Establish and apply templates, style guides, naming conventions, and formatting standards to ensure consistency and usability across materials.

Technical Writer Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications or related degree.
• Five (5) years professional writing experience in a technical and/or customer focused environment.
• Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite and software tools necessary to create and maintain documentation.
