Well established automotive manufacturing facility has an outstanding opportunity available for a HSE Manager.

Health, safety and environmental (HSE) manager plan, coordinate and implement policies, procedures and strategies within the organization. HSE manager ensures safe working conditions for all employees, and interested parties working to prevent accidents, infections, illnesses, injuries and property loss due to natural causes or daily life circumstances. They ensures environmental compliance and programs are in place to reduce and control environmental impacts.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Puts in place HSE Standards Operational Procedures.
  • Works with appropriate team members to create risk assessments and designs risk mitigation measures.
  • Works with appropriate team members to create all the required documentation, operational checks and reports for the HSE Management System to be compliant with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards, and client's requirements.
  • Coordinate HSE improvement actions.
  • Monitors HSE controllers in executing continuous audits/inspections.
  • Manage the HSE controllers and coordinate their audit schedule.
  • Provides HSE improvement proposals stating: the non-conformance, proposed corrective action, required resources for corrective action and plan of implementation.
  • Investigate the root cause HSE complaints put forward by staff members, customers, clients and contractors and document findings and take appropriate actions as needed.
  • Follows up to ensure that corrective actions are implemented where necessary and ensures that any certification requirements are complied with.
  • Assists with the implementation of Job Safety Analysis and inspect job site activities during hazardous work situations.
  • Safety Committee Meeting steering committee chairperson.
  • Coordinates and participate in the investigation of accidents and near misses.
  • Reviews and analyze accidents and near miss incidents and making corrective action recommendations.
  • Ensures regular emergency response exercises and drills are conducted to ensure the highest level of preparedness in any emergency.
  • Implementation of Environmental Management, ISO 45001, and ISO14001.
  • Maintains records of such drills, providing recommendations for emergency response improvements.
  • Supervises emergency response preparation and implementation. Ensures that operations employees, contractors and site visitors receive HSE training. Responsible for preparing written weekly and monthly HSE reports, statistics and presentations related to HSE performance.
  • Workers Compensations and emergency case management.
  • Reports to the HSE Corporate weekly.

Qualifications

  • BS Safety and Environmental Management
  • Certified training as an Auditor, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
  • Leadership.
