We create inclusive spaces, tools, and learning opportunities where communities can shape just and resilient futures. About the RoleThe Social Media & Website Design Intern will support CDIs digital presence and storytelling across web and social platforms. This role is ideal for a student who is passionate about climate justice and democratic engagement and wants hands-on experience in nonprofit communications, content creation, and UX/site maintenance. Youll help maintain and improve our Webflow site, develop creative social content tailored to diverse audiences, and track performance to inform strategy.Key Responsibilities1) Website Management & UXMaintain and update CDIs website in Webflow (copy, images, page structure, blog/news).Ensure accessibility, mobile optimization, and brand consistency across pages.Implement design/layout improvements to clarify user journeys and increase engagement.Publish new pages or posts (program pages, resources, event recaps) with clean formatting and metadata.2) Social Media Strategy & ContentDevelop and post platform-appropriate content for LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok, and Bluesky.Create engaging multimedia (graphics, short-form video, stories/reels) using Canva (or similar).Maintain a content calendar aligned to program milestones, campaigns, and events.Monitor trends in climate, democracy, and sustainability and suggest timely content ideas.3) Community & Partner EngagementSupport amplification of CDI events, announcements, and partner initiatives across channels.Draft posts for coalition partners and tag/coordinate to broaden reach.Help develop micro-campaigns that highlight rural voices, youth leadership, and community solutions.4) Analytics & OptimizationTrack basic KPIs (reach, engagement, follower growth, CTR) and compile monthly snapshots.Recommend content tests (format, timing, captions, CTAs) to improve performance.Maintain an asset library (templates, footage, brand elements) for sustainable production.5) General Communications SupportDraft and edit short blog posts, newsletters, and press notes as needed.Assist with copyediting for clarity, accessibility, and tone.Ensure consistent brand voice and visuals across all digital touchpoints.Required QualificationsProficiency with Webflow (or similar CMS/website builder) and comfort updating pages and assets.Experience creating content for at least two social platforms (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok).Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills; attention to detail and deadlines.Ability to work independently, communicate proactively, and manage multiple tasks.Demonstrated interest in sustainability, climate justice, democracy, or community engagement.Preferred QualificationsBasic familiarity with accessibility best practices (alt text, readable color contrast, captions).Experience with Canva (or Adobe tools), short-form video editing, and simple motion graphics.Understanding of analytics basics and how to translate insights into content improvements.Prior experience in nonprofit communications or campus/community organizing (nice to have, not required).What Youll GainHands-on experience in nonprofit communications, content strategy, and web maintenance.A portfolio of published work (web pages, graphics, videos, campaign posts).Mentorship, feedback, and networking with CDI staff and partners.Eligibility for academic credit through your institution (if applicable).Interested in This Role?
